Q. Is the brass lacquered?
A. No, none of our products are lacquered.
Q. Are the door bolts sprung or free sliding?
A. All of the bolts are sprung.
Q. How soon can you deliver my order?
A. It depends on when the order arrives with us but we aim for either next day or at
the latest the second working day for delivery, so long as the product is in stock. If there is a delay on any particular item, it will normally say so along with the product description. We dont deliver on weekends.
Q. Do the door knobs come with fixing screws and bar?
A. Yes all of our products are supplied with relevant screws and fixings.
Q. How much do you charge for delivery?
A. Orders on the mainland UK are just £5, apart from addresses in the Hebrides, Northern Scotland and the Channel Islands, which will need a quote. Please contact us for delivery prices outside the UK.
Q. Will the brass tarnish?
A. Any unlacquered brass will tarnish in time, it all adds to the authenticity of the
product. The brass can be cleaned occasionally with any proprietary brass cleaner or you may prefer to use a traditional methos such as salt and lemon, rinse or wipe it afterwards with clean water ans buff to a shine .
Q. Are your door knobs solid brass or hollow?
A. The Beehive and Bloxwich knobs (door and cupboard) are turned from a solid
brass bar. The Cottage knobs are hollow cast for a strong product that will not dint.
Q. Are the bell pulls supplied with pulleys?
A. The Claverley and Winchester pulls are supplied with a blanking pulley and the
internal Butlers bells are supplied with a directional and an extension pulley.
Q. Is the door knocker antiqued?
A. The Lions head, Rams head and Regency knockers are all hand aged, the Doctors knocker has a polished finish.
Q. Is there a return spring on the pull or the bell?
A. There is a return spring on both of the bell pulls.
Q. How does the letterbox fix to the door, is it screwed?
A. No it isnt screwed, the are two fixing bolts that go though the door to secure the
letter plate and the bolts are capped off with two ornate brass nuts.
Q. Do the cupboard knobs screw into the door?
A. No, there is a small bolt that fixes the knob to the door. A small hole has to be drilled to accommodate the bolt.
Q. Do I need an escutcheon with a rim lock?
A. That is personal choice, there will be a keyhole on the side opposite side of the door to the rim lock, most people like to cover this with an escutcheon.
Q. Can I fix a cast iron rim latch inside my bathroom?
A. Yes you can, but you will need to make sure you wipe the latch occasionally with a light oil to protect the cast iron. A cooking oil will suffice. Many people prefer the nickel or brass finish to blend in with their taps.
Q. Do the toilet roll holders accept modern toilet rolls?
A. Yes any modern roll will fit in the holder.
